Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first EP, Pho, in October of 2016 when she began to gain recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012, with the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. The year 2014 saw her release more music via the Internet including Bound. On July 21 2015 Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole was interested in her talents and was keen to work in conjunction with Rihanna. The 8th of December was the day she confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat is one of the songs she recorded with Cozz for the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change, and she performed as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening performance. In 2018 she guest-starred on two songs alongside her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video was then released in September. The second single she released was, Grampa on November 9. On the 13th of November, two brand new singles, titled No One and Pedigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby the 16th of November 16and later made the track available as a single by herself on her debut album. In February of 2019 a music video was made available for the track. It has already received more than 3 million hits on YouTube within the first week. In support of the track, she toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
